This has been a highly stressful week for me. Highly. Stressful. As if the holidays were not chaotic enough, I’ve been trying to find time to dedicate to the blog, prepare for my first week as controller (which officially began Monday), and get my house cleaned and ready for Christmas. Oh, and I met my boyfriend’s parents for the first time during Thanksgiving. You don’t even need to ask how many bottles of wine I’ve used as a coping mechanism. (It was 4 bottles. Completely reasonable.)
However, as I sat on my couch this past weekend after throwing glitter and garland all around my house, I had a moment where I sat back and realized how blessed I truly am. To not have student debt. To be able to easily afford my home. To know what to do with my money when I have a little extra to spare. It’s a privilege many of you without a degree in finance or money-savvy parents to guide you have not been privy to, and I want to change that. In the easiest way possible.
A couple of months ago, I decided to create what I call the “Better Benjamins” Money Course. It’s something I’ve been developing for a while now, but this past weekend brought back the excitement I initially had for the project. Because here’s the thing: I know what financial stability has brought to my life, and I want that for you, too. This blog has been and always will be about helping you achieve your financial goals, and that won’t happen until you get on solid ground. And that’s what this course is all about.
WHAT IS THE BETTER BENJAMINS MONEY COURSE?
The Better Benjamins Money Course is a 7-day email course that will guide you through everything from figuring out your net worth to setting up an emergency fund. Each day you will receive an email that focuses on one specific topic that will lead you to better finances. The best part? These aren’t just theory – each day offers an actionable (and easy) step for you to implement. And after 7 days, I guarantee you will be in a better financial position than you were at the beginning of the course. Here are some of the questions we’ll be covering throughout the course:
- What’s a reasonable goal to set for myself based on my current financial situation?
- What are the best apps available to help me to keep my finances in check?
- How do I set up an automatic transfer to a savings or retirement account?
- Why should I freeze my credit and how do you do this?
- How can I reduce my interest rate on my student loans/mortgage?
